ACBJJ (Absolute Championship of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) is a professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling promotion based in Moscow, Russia. It was established as the grappling division of Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB), a combat sports organization that also promoted mixed martial arts and kickboxing. Following the rebranding of ACB to Absolute Championship Akhmat (ACA) in 2018, ACBJJ continued to operate as a dedicated professional grappling promotion.
What Makes ACBJJ Different?
Unlike traditional BJJ tournaments where competitors may enter large elimination brackets, ACBJJ is an invitation-based professional promotion. Events primarily feature:
- Superfights between elite grapplers
- Professional rulesets designed to encourage submissions
- Single-match contests rather than open tournaments
- Cash prizes and championship titles
The promotion has hosted many of the world’s top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes alongside high-level MMA fighters competing in submission grappling matches.
Competition Format
ACBJJ events focus on spectator-friendly submission grappling. Depending on the event, matches may feature:
- Submission-only or points-based rules
- Professional superfights
- Championship title matches
- Weight-class contests
- Special invitational bouts
The exact ruleset can vary between events.
International Reputation
During the mid-2010s, ACBJJ became one of the most prominent professional grappling promotions outside the IBJJF and ADCC circuits. It attracted elite competitors from around the world by offering professionally produced events, championship belts, and financial incentives for athletes.
ACBJJ Today
ACBJJ continues to hold professional grappling events in Russia, with recent cards taking place in Moscow featuring international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA athletes competing under submission grappling rules. The promotion remains focused on showcasing high-level grappling through professional superfight events rather than traditional open-entry tournaments.
