I Killed The Prom Queen’s Jona Weinhofen promoted to BJJ purple belt

Austrailian rockster Jona Weinhofen was recently promoted to the rank of purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He was promoted whilst training at the Valhalla Jiu Jitsu club in Orange County, California. Although Weinhofen is originally from Australia, he recently gained American citizenship and lives in the country.

Weinhofen is best known as the lead guitarist for the rock band I Killed The Prom Queen and also worked with the British rock group Bring Me The Horizon. Upon receiving his purple belt, he said “Level Up. Made it to purple belt. Thanks always to Coach AJ, all my training partners, and everyone else who has offered help, advice, techniques, and support throughout my journey so far.”

Weinhofen has trained for several years now whilst working around his music career and trains in both gi and nogi. He is also not the first rocker to get a purple belt either, with Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine earning his earlier this year.
