The story of how Charlie Hunnam got introduced into the world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Charlie Hunnam is arguably one of Britain’s biggest actors and is probably best known for his role in the hit TV show Sons Of Anarchy. Here, Hunnam played a maverick leader of a biker gang whose world revolved around violence and chaos.

Away from this role however, Humman is the complete opposite in person. According to Hunnam, he got started in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2016. Here, he wanted to gain fitness and strength for his role in the Hollywood Blockbuster, King Arthur. Here, Hunnam’s physique noticeably improved but there was also another factor in his introduction into BJJ. It just so happens that the films director was Guy Ritchie. Why is this relevant? Well, Guy Ritchie is a Roger Gracie black belt who has trained the art for years. It’s possible that Ritchie’s presence influenced the decision of Hunnam to start training.

Since then, Hunnam has gone on to achieve his blue belt from the legendary Rigan Machado. However, Hunnam isn’t just a BJJ fanatic, he is also heavily into various forms of exercise such as running and cycling.
