UFC Fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk gets promoted to BJJ Blue Belt

This week saw UFC Fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk earn her blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after training in the gi for a while. Upon receiving her new belt, the ex-Straweight UFC Champion said “You’ve made my day Artur. Thanks for pushing me into wearing the GI and training. I didn’t expect a blue belt promotion. Thank You.”

She has also trained alongside fellow Polish grappler Magdalina Loska over the years who has surely taught her a few decent grappling tricks. It’s also nice to see Jedrzejczyk expanding her MMA horizons, as she is mostly known for her Muay Thai skills. In fact, of her 16 MMA wins, only once has been done by a submission – where she secured a rear naked choke over Lily Kazak in 2012.

Undoubtedly learning in the gi can improve certain aspects of MMA fighters games such as pressure and escapes from the bottom. Just don’t expect her to be training squid guard anytime soon!
