The imminent arrival of Polaris 25 is on the horizon, and the BJJ organization has officially unveiled the entire ensemble of seven contenders who have received invitations to participate in the highly anticipated Absolute Grand Prix. The ultimate slot in this tournament is reserved for the victor of the preceding Polaris Contenders Tournament, although they are set to face formidable adversaries. Notably, two reigning ADCC world champions, Giancarlo Bodoni (88kg champion) and Kaynan Duarte (99kg champion), are among the competitors vying for victory at the event. Furthermore, the other participants also hold the distinction of being seasoned ADCC veterans.
Eoghan O’Flanagan and Izaak Michell have previously contested in the 88kg category, while Owen Livesey showcased his skills in the 99kg division. In contrast, the two remaining BJJ participants will encounter a weight disparity: Roberto Jimenez competed in the 77kg category during ADCC 2022, and Fabricio Andrey remarkably participated at a mere 66kg. The potential for intriguing rematches abounds, contingent upon how the tournament bracket takes shape. Regardless of the specific matchups, an abundance of exhilaration is guaranteed.
There is also space for one more competitor who is yet to be announced. However, as you can see it’s set to be a potential classic and is good news for grappling fans everywhere who are undeniably in for a treat!
