Dan Manasoiu has recently become the newest addition to Team Modolfo for the semi-final of the AIGA Champions League in late 2023. ADCC head organizer Mo Jassim meticulously curated this team, sparing no effort to attract some of the world’s most exceptional grapplers. With their remarkable roster, Team Modolfo quickly established themselves as early favorites, and they delivered on that promise during their first appearance in the quarter-finals, emerging victorious and securing their spot in the next round.
Despite their success, it seems Jassim has been keen on making some adjustments to the lineup. Even before Dan Manasoiu joined, he enlisted several new competitors to bolster Team Modolfo. The initial additions primarily focused on the lighter weight divisions, with Mica Galvao leading the pack as the most accomplished among them. Joining him were Kaua Gabriel and Felipe Machado, although the specific weight classes they’d compete in and who they would replace remained unconfirmed.
Manasoiu’s designated weight class is more apparent, limited by his natural size. He is poised to represent Team Modolfo in the over 91kg division, potentially displacing either Luke Griffith or John Hansen from the lineup. Interestingly, Gordon Ryan expressed interest in joining Team Modolfo, suggesting that Manasoiu might not be the sole member of New Wave Jiu-Jitsu making their way into the lineup for the semi-final.
