In a groundbreaking collaboration, four of the sport’s premier grappling promotions—Sapateiro, Finishers Sub-Only, Midwest Finishers, and Enigma—will converge this weekend for a unique Quintette-style competition. The “Battle of the Promotions Quintet,” occurring on January 27th in St. Petersburg, Florida, will showcase ten elite grapplers per team, vying for ultimate supremacy in a format brimming with dynamic matchups and submission-only intensity.
Each promotion has assembled a five-man squad of their finest athletes:
- Team Sapateiro: Max Hanson, John Combs, Adrian Nez, Ryan Aitken, Andre Porfirio
- Team Finishers Sub-Only: Ethan Crelinsten, Sean Yadimarco, Rene Sousa, Kieran Kichuk, Sergio Vilas
- Team Midwest Finishers: David Stoilescu, Chris Wojcik, Sergio Ardila, Paul Ardila, Ernesto Rivera
- Team Enigma: Deandre Corbe, Hunter Colvin, Reese Lafever, Kaya Rudolph, Abraham La Montagne
The Quinttette format reigns supreme: one-on-one clashes, solely decided by submissions. The victors remain matside to confront the following opponent, while draws yield both athletes exiting. Eight-minute rounds will transpire, with heel hooks sanctioned. For significant weight discrepancies, the smaller competitor may elect a four-minute match.
In the event of a team stalemate, each side selects a representative for a decisive, head-to-head Elimination Brackets International (EBI) overtime match.
The “Battle of the Promotions Quintet” unfolds on January 27th, exclusively broadcast on Enigma TV (pay-per-view or subscription required) starting at 7 PM ET.
