In a continued demonstration of tireless dedication to the sport, Eddie Bravo has announced the inaugural Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championship of 2024. Scheduled for March 24th, 2024, the tournament will exclusively feature featherweight competitors and, for the first time, take place in Mexico City, Mexico.
Continuing its partnership with UFC Fight Pass, the event will be broadcast live to a global audience. Notably, entry to the Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championship will be free for spectators, a unique approach calculated to further engage the grappling community.
As with previous iterations, the event is expected to attract a contingent of elite grapplers and MMA veterans. While the full bracket remains undisclosed, the initial five confirmed participants already generate significant intrigue.
Leading the pack are Zack Schneider and Dorian Olivarez, finalists in the 2023 bantamweight edition. Notably, Olivarez will seek to claim his second world title under the Combat Jiu-Jitsu ruleset, having emerged victorious in the previous tournament.
Joining Olivarez is his B-Team teammate Damien Anderson who will both be representing the Austin gym. Also, seasoned veterans of the format, and rising stars David Weintraub and Gabriel Austin Daffron. Their previous performances, including Weintraub’s quarter-final exit and Daffron’s semi-final defeat to Schneider in the 2023 bantamweight edition, hint at the potential for compelling rematches and high-octane action.
