In a significant development for women’s grappling, reigning ADCC World Champion Ffion Davies has entered into an exclusive contract with Polaris for all competition appearances within the United Kingdom. This strategic move secures the services of the nation’s most decorated grappler, solidifying Polaris’s position as the continent’s premier grappling promotion.
Davies’s achievements are unparalleled within the UK grappling scene. Her 2022 ADCC World Championship victory marked a historic first for her nation, building upon her previous groundbreaking accomplishment as the first UK athlete to win an IBJJF No Gi World Championship in 2018. Notably, 2022 also witnessed her claim a singular IBJJF World Championship title, further cementing her status as a pioneer of British grappling.
Despite originally hailing from the United Kingdom, Davies currently resides in the Bronx, NY, and has lived in the US since last year where she trains at Essential Jiu Jitsu under JT Torres.
Throughout her distinguished black belt career, Ms. Davies has consistently pushed the boundaries of British grappling success. Her longstanding relationship with Polaris includes her current reign as the promotion’s under 55kg champion, a title secured at Polaris 9 and subsequently defended against Talita Alencar. While her attempt to capture a second Polaris title in the under 60kg grand prix at Polaris 23 fell short in the semi-final stage, her overall impact on the promotion remains undeniable.
