Early Life
Roberto Francisco Jimenez was born on May 19, 2000, in Miami, Florida, United States, to Ecuadorian parents. He was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of four by his father, Raul “Gacho” Jimenez, a martial artist with a background in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
During his childhood, Jimenez trained extensively and progressed rapidly through the youth belt system. His family later moved to Texas, where he continued his development at Alliance Jiu-Jitsu, one of the world’s most successful BJJ teams.
Rise Through the Ranks
Jimenez became one of the most talked-about young competitors in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after producing remarkable results against much older and more experienced opponents.
At just 15 years old, he defeated UFC veteran Sage Northcutt in a grappling match, gaining international attention. In 2016, he competed at the Royal Invitational, his first major professional event, where he won every match by submission despite being the youngest athlete in the tournament.
