Recognized as one of the top heavyweight competitors of his generation, Marinho has achieved success in both gi and no-gi competition, earning major titles in the IBJJF, Who’s Number One (WNO), and other elite professional grappling promotions.

    Early Life

    Pedro Fillipe Serra Marinho was born on October 9, 1996, in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Growing up, he was involved in a variety of sports, including soccer, surfing, skating, and combat sports.

    His martial arts journey began with capoeira at the age of seven before he trained in Muay Thai and Western boxing. At 17, Marinho discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and began training under Reinaldo Fernandes at Brazilian Top Team (BTT). After nearly four years at BTT, he earned a place in Felipe Pena’s FP Golden Team scholarship program, where he further developed his competitive game. Later, he moved to the United States to train under Ulpiano Malachias at Gracie Barra, receiving his black belt in March 2021.

    Grappling Career

    Marinho first gained widespread attention while still a purple belt, defeating numerous established black belts in professional no-gi events. His aggressive wrestling, powerful guillotine attacks, and relentless pace quickly established him as one of the sport’s rising stars.
