After winning a silver medal at the 2019 ADCC tournament, Nicky Rodriguez has had a whirlwind past 18 months with numerous high profile superfights. Not only this but his stock still rises as he continues to successfully combine BJJ with wrestling to win matches.
Today he called out Youtube superstar Logan Paul. For those wondering, Logan Paul was actually an accomplished high school wrestler himself and is clearly well versed in grappling. Recently this could be seen with a grappling video where Paul sparred Paulo Costa. Here, Paul showed his wrestling skills and actually looked quite good against the UFC veteran.
He has also previously done high profile boxing matches against the likes of KSI which means he’s no stranger to combat sports.
However, even with his wrestling background and athleticism surely it would still be too easy for Rodriguez. Having said this, if it went ahead it would undoubtedly be a commercial success. As Rodriguez said himself the winner would be his bank account, alluding to the financial gain of such an event.
This comes after Logan Paul was previously linked with fights against Connor McGregor’s BJJ coach Dillon Danis and CM Punk. However, Paul has never accepted any of these challenges. Perhaps competing against Nicky Rod would be the most interesting one yet due to himself being genuinely good at wrestling.
Whilst this will probably never happen it would be a spectacle if it did happen and a payday for all involved.
