Today a video was released in America which combined CCTV footage and video footage from the BJJ practitioners phone. Starting with the CCTV it shows the aggressor walking up to the practitioner in the parking lot and starting a fight. It is clear that the practitioner is trying to walk away from the situation to begin with to avoid engaging in a confrontation.
After an exchange of punches, the 62 year old (in the red) manages to get to his opponents back whilst standing. He next uses a body lock takedown to put his opponent to the floor. From a seatbelt position he then chokes the aggressor unconscious and puts him to sleep.
The footage then shifts to the 62 year old’s phone view who is visibly shaken by the incident and wonders if he possibly killed the attacker. He quickly checks the attacker is unconscious and then it ends with the police investigating the incident.
This is a classic tale of BJJ possibly saving someones life during a street fight and how it is crucial for self defence. Not only this but it also shows that even at age 62, BJJ can still be effective in a combat situation.
The incident can be seen below.
