Ohana Silva is from Belo Horizonte in Brazil.
She began training BJJ in a social project in 2013, since then she has moved to Estrela de Oriente gym in 2015, which is also in Belo Horitzonte.
Ohana became a purple belt in March 2020 which was awarded by professor Adeilson Santos.
Her approach to BJJ is to have strong fundamentals, she prefers to pass guard and when on bottom favours the classic closed guard, with her favourite submission being the armlock.
Fortunately enough Ohana says that she has never been injured and has competed several times in regional (state) level championships, as well as internal championships of the Estrela do Oriente affiliate – something which is more common in Brazil compared to USA and Europe.
Outside of BJJ, Ohana says that she enjoys swimming and also adds that she would like to compete in as many BJJ tournaments as possible in the future. In addition to this, eventually she would like to begin teaching and open her own academy once she has earnt her black belt.
Ohana states the fighters in her day to day life that inspire her are, her professor Adeilson Santos, her brother Ieferson and her boyfriend Anderson.
The professional BJJ athletes she looks up to are ADCC world champion Bia Basilio & IBJJF World Champion Nathiely de Jesus
Lastly Ohana would like to say a big thankyou to her sponsor which is an electronics store in Brazil called CF Tech Cell.
