Quentin Rosenzweig is a 10th Planet grappler who comes from Atlanta, GA. He has since moved to Savannah GA where he runs his own 10th Planet gym. Rosenzweig credits his mother for getting him into grappling when he was 16 as she thought he needed an after school activity to keep him out of trouble, it was here when he began training at KnuckleUp in Atlanta.
Since then, Rosenzweig earnt his black belt age 24 from the legendary BJJ red belt Ricardo Murgel, but since he has joined 10th planet, he is now one of Eddie Bravo’s many students.
When asked about why he joined the 10th planet team, Rosenzweig responds “Marvin Castelle is a buddy of mine and came to train with me in Atlanta. I was telling him I really wanted to grow with a big team that felt like family”. He then went to L.A to meet with Eddie Bravo, after this 10th Planet Savannah was born.

The style of BJJ Rosenzweig uses is largely influenced by 10th planet with his favorite submission being the inside heel hook from 50/50 position. Seen in his most recent catch wrestling match, he likes to play a sit down / butterfly guard along with the basic sweeps that come from this position. When on top his go to pass is the leg drag. He also mentions that the grappler who has had the most influence on his style is leg lock innovator Eddie Cummings.
Rosenzweig’s best achievement to date is winning the Onnit 205 invitational which saw him submit both Roberto Jiminez & Kyle Boehm. He also mentions that his toughest opponent was Abraham Marte in the gi. Discussing his goals for the future he wants to win ADCC and become the most dominant catch wrestling world champion in history. With his recent win over Curran Jacobs to become the world champion, he is already well on his way to achieving this.
2020 Catch Wrestling & Controversy
Most recently, as mentioned earlier, Rosenzweig beat Curran Jacobs 2-0 in a catch wrestling match. Perhaps the significance of this match as a whole, is that some people in catch wrestling believe it is far superior to BJJ. However, their champion wrestler lost 2-0 in under 5 minutes, being submitted twice, by armbar and kneebar.
Curran Jacobs was a D1 wrestler and is no joke by any means, however Rosenzweig believes that his style is very well suited to the game of Jacobs and says “His style is very easy for me to deal with since my two main training partners for many years were Paul & Sergio Ardilla“. Whilst he believes Jacobs was tough, he is certainly not the toughest opponent he has ever faced.
Speaking about the difference between BJJ and catch wrestling, Rosenzweig thinks that there really isn’t too much difference between the two styles other than the competition rulesets. He adds that most of the people in catch wrestling he has met have been great and references the legitimate catch wrestlers such as Josh Barnett.
Lastly, we discuss the “cease and desist” letter he received through Facebook messenger from Snake Pit USA. It came about from Rosenzweig being left off a fight card despite having just beaten Jacobs for the world championship. He and snake pit then did not see eye to eye on the matter and he was threatened with legal action.
The cease and desist has since been laughed at on various forums such as reddit where a lot of people seem to claim it was not even written by a lawyer.
