Mo Jassim turned 52 years old last week and spent his time hanging around and training with Gordon Ryan. He is also in charge of the 2021 ADCC tournament and in brief, if there’s action involved with the BJJ world then he is often involved in terms of competition.
Today he made an Instagram post saying “I’ll put 250k if my fighter loses and I get 100k if mine wins in a grappling match”. Interestingly, a similar idea was earlier proposed to Andre Galvao who seemingly accepted the offer on Instagram, but since then the speculation has died down.
Not one to back away from a challenge, Gordon Ryan added to the situation by tagging Colby Covington and said “Your move”. Whilst the reality is this match would probably not happen, it would be an interesting one nonetheless. Undoubtedly Ryan would win in a BJJ setting, but if it was wrestling then Covington would win due to his wrestling background. Because of this, as well as Covington’s pursuit of the UFC title – this match is probably more of a pipedream rather than anything of substance. However, we can also dream that Galvao takes up the offer and makes it happen.
