Andre Galvao squats 200KG showing his impressive strength

In recent times, Galvao has been winning tournaments and proving he’s only getting better with age. The scary thing about this is that he’s 37 which is relatively old in terms of being a professional grappler…especially at the highest level.

One of the reasons for his success could be due to his impressive strength. Today he uploaded a video of him squatting 200KG of weights which proves his ability. The video racked up over 60,000 views in under 12 hours. It also adds the idea that weightlifting is very important for competitors. Whilst this may not be needed for hobbyists, it is something used commonly by elite grapplers. It’s no secret that getting stronger can complement your technique – and it’s no surprise that Galvao is one of the best at the moment who is also massively strong.

200Kg >>> 🦍✊🏽🔥. • obrigado por todos os ensinamentos mestrao @galvaobjj @angelicagalvao • 🇺🇸🦍 Today training was special with this angry beast, I mean the goat 🐐 Brabo. 200kg / 440lb from the master @galvaobjj • I had the privilege of following a part of André's career when I was a “muleke” at the time, the master was a purple belt and both he and Terere were doing physical training using Olympic Weightlifting. I can say that this period helped me a lot as an athlete. I remember well that the Jiu-jítsu guys trained like animals were beaten all the time, and after the beat they would go to the training gym and lift weights with me. At that time, I was 11 12 years old, I just watched, learned and absorbed the SAMURAI's mentality. • Today, a little older, I can see how the Samurai's posture is important for the training of the athlete and more importantly the character as a person. • thanks for all the teachings master @galvaobjj @angelicagalvao always a pleasure to have you guys. @hybridperformancemethod @hybridperformancemethodgym @f.reis_weightlifting @atosjiujitsuhq @silvio_sreis
