Dillon Danis has been known to court controversy at the best of times which has been a staple of his career and growth in fame. However, yesterday wasn’t the time or place for this as he tweeted “Khabib is retiring because he’s scared of @TheNotoriousMMA”. This came after a highly emotional retirement from Khabib Nurmagomedov who was literally crying for minutes after the win which came just months after his fathers death from coronavirus complications. Khabib’s father was his coach and mentor, and the pair had an unbreakable bond.
Interestingly, Conor McGregor had nothing but praise towards his old rival Khabib as he tweeted “Good performance @TeamKhabib. I will carry on. Respect and condolences on your father again also. To you and family. Yours sincerely, The McGregors.”
In this case, it seems Danis went too far and whilst he’s made a name from trash talking there is a time and place and this certainly wasn’t it.
