It’s been over 1 year and 3 months since Tom DeBlass last had a competitive match in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The BJJ veteran is currently training to fight at MMA promotion One. Today, DeBlass revealed he is returning to competition at F2W on November 13th against Chad ‘Kodiak’ Fields. Fields is also a champion who is a black belt under Cyborg and has won various medals in and out of the gi.
The match is in the Masters category for the Superheavy title and is in the no gi category. According to DeBlass, he is good friends with Fields and said “I never expected to compete again then things changed with the pandemic when @onechampionship offered me a contract. I figured before stepping into the cage again to step under the grappling lights.”
This seems a smart move from DeBlass who is using the experience to help contribute towards his MMA fight. For nerves and general preparation alone, it’s a good idea to compete to get used to handling difficult situations.
