UFC veteran Matt Serra recently spoke to the ‘A Game’ podcast and talked about his introduction into the world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He said “My father who was a life long martial artist found these tapes of the Gracies called Gracie in Action…it was the Gracie family against other styles. When you’re watching this in 1992 you’re not used to seeing real fights. Everyone didn’t really know what worked. It was raw and it was real.”
After signing up to physically train, he also stated “Unlike other martial arts…it’s about getting a superior position and where a guy can’t get out and beating them up. It’s about taking a limb and breaking it. I’m like this is f***ing phenomenal, this is everything I’ve been wanting.”
Like many, it seems Serra has caught the BJJ bug and has been hooked ever since.
