James Gallagher says Sean O’Malley turned him down in a SUG grappling match – “All of a sudden he doesn’t want to compete on the show”

Sean O’Malley is no stranger to grappling. The UFC fighter was recently sighted at a competition where he lost to Robert Degle via heel hook. However, this week Bellator prospect James Gallagher claimed that Sean O’Malley dodged the chance to fight him in a Submission Underground Grappling match.

Gallagher had this to say “I agreed to a deal we made with Chael after I saw this video, and he turned it down. I seen the video of Chael Sonnen calling anyone out to fight Sean O’Malley in a grappling match. So, I went to my team, they went to Chael, we made a deal, and now all of a sudden now he doesn’t want to compete on the show.”

Whilst there’s been a long-standing history of BJJ guys grappling MMA fighters in grappling superfight events, rarely has there been two specific MMA guys go against each other. With this said, it would be quite an interesting match up, and with Gallagher involved he’d be sure to hype it up. Hopefully, this one happens at some point, as both fighters have proven grappling skills and it would raise the profile of BJJ events in the process.
