Another competition, another win for ATOS HQ as Andre Galvao was in attendance last night to see his 3-person squad win Subversiv 4 after being touted as favorites. The event ended with ATOS defeating team Level Black 2-0 as Andy Murasaki beat Kody Steele via decision, as did Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa against Kody Steele. As it was already 2-0 at this point, the women’s match did not take place which would have seen Rafaela Guedes go up against Elizabeth Clay.
The event was everything you’d expect from a sub-only no gi tournament which featured lots of submissions and impressive displays throughout. Elizabeth Clay went on to win the award for the outstanding female fighter and got what was the submission of the night when she used an unusual choke from the gogo-clinch position. Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time she’s used a gogoplata submission to win either.
