Even though Carlos Condit has been grappling in MMA for years, he’s still climbing the BJJ belt ladder which is fairly normal for many MMA fighters. This is because they often move around and rarely train in the gi, meaning the formality of a belt often evades them whilst promotion is slower compared to most BJJ purists.
Anyway, this week was a celebration for UFC veteran Carlos Condit. Although known for his kicks, he can also grapple and in reality is probably far more skilled than your average purple belt. Nonetheless, he was promoted at 10th Planet Albuquerque to the rank of purple belt. This comes almost one year after he was promoted to blue belt, so it seems that Condit is now firmly on the road to becoming a BJJ black belt.
