It’s no secret that Poland is a country that is full of grappling and MMA fans and they have a fierce reputation built on tough competitors. However, this week saw some ugly scenes at a FAME MMA boxing match that ended very badly. The match took part with boxer Marcin Najman vs celebrity Kasjusz Życiński which is a typical match-up in FAME (hence the name) and ended in a tense stand off.
With each fighter squaring up towards each other, the cornermen ran in and put Kasjusz Życiński to the floor where he was held by around four men. This seemed fairly rational to begin with the avoid a confrontation. At this point, one of Marcin Najman’s coaches decided to heel hook Życiński whilst his foot was dangling in mid-air. It should be noted that he was being held down by around four men at the time. This heel hook caused Życiński to let out a horrific scream which injured his ankle and knee. It’s not yet known as to whether he broke any tendons or bones, but given the intensity of the scream, it’s a definite possibility.
It also raises the question about security within the context of the FAME MMA promotion and how the coach of Najman will be sanctioned, if at all. To watch the footage, it can be viewed at the end of the video from the 27 second mark onwards. Be advised, the scream may be distressing to some.
