Riccardo Ammendolia has done it again, this time his Youtube channel has uploaded archive footage from 2005 which featured a younger Georges St Pierre in his prime. In this BJJ grappling match, GSP went up against AJ Scales in a nogi match and won by Kimura. If you’ve watched any of his videos against the great Braulio Estima, you’ll notice that GSP has a powerful Kimura game.
The match took part at the Ontario Submission Wrestling Invitational which saw GSP win in typical GSP style. Here he secured a double leg takedown and stayed in top half-guard for the variety of the match whilst trying to pass. In the end he managed to get a Kimura from the position to claim victory. Even though this was a much smaller venue than he’s used to, he still celebrated with humility which was also great to see. According to the description, GSP won his division on the day and was invited to compete at the 2005 ADCC shortly afterward.
