Before his dominant run in competitive BJJ, Andre Galvao was best known as an MMA fighter who had stints in Dream and Strikforce. After retiring in MMA to pursue BJJ properly, he left with a record of 5-2. Although he was already a decorated black belt at this point with 3 of those wins coming by armbar, his MMA record was nothing compared to what he had in store for the BJJ world. Interestingly, like a few others, Galvao seemed to only improve as he grew closer to age 40.
Well, yesterday the veteran decided that we would return to the Octagon at some point and said it was “God’s plan”. Importantly, he also added “Back in the day I had no wrestling and no ADCC World Titles. My no gi game is different now.” With this said, it’s no doubt that even though he’s older, his return to MMA will probably be more fruitful than his last outing.
