Earlier today Aljamain Sterling announced he would be squaring off against 21 year old Pan American Junior wrestling champion Roman Bravo-Young on December 22nd.
Not much is known about the ruleset so far, other than it will be 6 minutes of wrestling, followed by 3 minutes of BJJ.
Perhaps the 3 minutes of BJJ is the strangest part, since it may take 3 minutes for a high level wrestler to take another wrestler of a similar level to the ground. Even with a giant discrepancy in BJJ skills, it would be quite difficult to see a winner by submission in such a short time period.
It should also be noted that the match is an “exhibition”. This is strange considering one man is a professional MMA fighter and the other is a college wrestler in his early 20’s.
