This week saw Balance MMA teacher Riccardo Carminati call out Firas Zahabi for his views on not rolling with women. In a short video, he said “People like you are the reason why there’s not more women doing BJJ. You’re attitude and behavior is very bad for an instructor.”
This comes after Zahabi recently admitted that he refuses to roll with women. This is his choice and said he felt it was wrong whilst married. Nonetheless, this did not sit well with Carminati who added “In my dojo if you are a woman you are treated like everybody else, you can roll with everybody and there’s no problem. We don’t care about your religion, your identity, sexual orientation or gender. When you come to train you’re a sparing partner like everybody else. Stop with your bulls***.”
Whether Zahabi will respond is unknown, but due to his activity online it probably won’t be long until he sees the message and can make his own mind up on the matter.
