Rayron Gracie is one of the younger generations of the legendary Gracie family who is currently a purple belt and trains in North America. To many, the Gracie name is one filled with iconic status, but it also has tales of sorrow written into its legacy too.
For those that don’t know, Rayron’s father, Ryan Gracie was a celebrated BJJ black belt and MMA fighter, he had won matches in Pride and was known as the ‘bad boy’ of the family, due to getting into a number of street fights. Sadly, he died aged 31 in a Sao Paulo jail cell. This was after he was arrested for robbing a car, his wife accused his psychiatrist in jail of over prescribing medication and causing his death. He was found dead in the morning.
However, his legacy lives on and at that time he had a 6 year old son. His son, Rayron is releasing a documentary in January, 2021 called ‘Letters to my Father’. It will probably be quite an emotive and poignant watch based on the title and will hopefully show his perspective on things.
