Firstly, ignore the Michael Jackson part of the picture. For some reason, the king of pop is wearing a fedora and a belt with several stripes on it…the whole thing is odd.
However, this story isn’t about MJ, it’s about his son Prince. Prince Jackson is actually a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He received his belt under the legendary Rener Gracie at his Gracie Academy gym. Since then, Rener has described him as an ‘extremely dedicated and attentive’ student.
Funnily enough, Prince was once quizzed about his BJJ journey by a paparazzi. They asked him “Do you plan on getting your black belt?” to which he replied “I just plan on learning. A black belt only covers two inches of your ass.” This saying has actually been around in the world of BJJ for some time and shows Prince’s understanding of BJJ…basically you shouldn’t care about belt color and instead should focus on your skill.
