Rener Gracie has been doing BJJ for what feels like an eternity and runs his own gym, so when people ask him for advice on gym drama, it’s safe to say that he knows what he’s doing.
Recently, a bemused student asked Rener whether he should consider quitting his gym. The student in question had already quit BJJ twice before and was considering it yet again. The reason was for feeling like a sparring dummy and victim in a competitive gym.
This was Rener’s response, “If you feel like you have to survive your school, you’re at the wrong school. Tell me what city let’s work together to devise a plan that will save your Jiu Jitsu future. If we don’t figure this out, you’ll end up quitting for the third (and not likely final) time.”
