Taken in 2001, Matt Serra shared a rare photo from the New York Renzo Gracie academy. This photo was so old, you could see the date printed on the card and the fashion just screams out early 2000’s. Alongside Matt Serra is a young Roger Gracie, other BJJ practitioners and also a younger looking John Danaher, complete with hair. For those wondering, it isn’t the first photo to show a younger Danaher with hair either…he was also pretty jacked.
In this photo, Danaher is still wearing his trademark fanny pack and 90’s style, baggy Adidas sweat pants. However, he is also wearing a coat. Was this coat covering a rash guard? Possibly, but the fact it’s not visible shows a rare image of Danaher without a visible rash guard in sight. On a similar note, fair play to Danaher who has maintained the same fashion for at least the past 20 years, he is definitely a man of principle and has a unique taste.
