UFC’s TJ Dillashaw and Bellator Champion Juan Archuleta today both got promoted to purple belt by their teacher, Philipe Furao. This promotion took place at the Gracie Barra HQ and the duo now joins the likes of Jon Jones who is also a GB purple belt.
Furao is a 4th degree BJJ black belt and congratulated the pair of them on their achievement. Dillashaw added “I’m very lucky to have Philipe Fuarao as my professor”, whilst Archuleta said, “Man it’s been a great journey! Looking forward to the journey!”. Like many pro-MMA fighters, these guys may have been walking around with blue belts on their waist, but in reality, in their grappling skills will far outweigh their rank.
