Undeniably, grip strength is integral to your success when training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Put simply, it can be the difference between finishing a submission, escaping a submission or generally dominating your opponent. In short, it’s no secret that stronger grips will help your BJJ, whether that’s in the gi or even in no gi.
Today BJJ black belt Jocko Willink shared a picture after a brutal grip training session, he jokingly captioned it ‘get a grip’. In typical Willink style, the photo was in black and white and you could really see the tough callouses and worn skin on his hands. Unsurprisingly, Jocko is known for his extreme strength.
