This week saw Caio Terra release episode 1 of his documentary series ‘Uh Terere’, which is based on the BJJ legend’s rise to success and life in general. The episode featured an in-depth interview with the man himself when Caio Terra went out to visit him last year. Not only this, but it also has exclusive interviews with his ex-teammates, friends and past teachers.
Sitting in his favela, Fernando Terere gave a fascinating insight into his life and how he got his nickname due to constantly singing the funk song in his gym. He also discussed his famous term ‘Favela Jiu Jitsu’ and what it meant, exactly. According to Terere, this meant a loose and creative style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that he often used whilst training.
