In what is possibly the weirdest challenge of the year, the no gi GOAT Gordon Ryan has called out Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa to a different kind of challenge. After trading jabs on social media, Hulk said “I bet you can’t even explain an armbar from the gi. Let the men work with some real fighters in the gi”
This prompted Gordon Ryan to challenge Hulk Barbosa to release a demonstration on how to set up and finish an armbar. Specifically, he wanted to prove how to effectively separate the hands and then break the arm. The supposed contest would let the viewers decide and vote whose armbar demonstration was better. Whether this will actually go ahead is unknown, but such a challenge hasn’t been seen previously in BJJ.
What is known is that 2021 looks no different to 2020 in that Gordon Ryan is still continuing his beef with the ATOS crew after clashing with practically all of their main members.
