After the recent WNO slapping incident, Andre Galvao had a brief period of quiet on his social media pages. This followed by a statement that he had built up over a couple of days. Some people speculated that his statement would be more promotion or trash talk regarding Gordon Ryan. Was Galvao angling for an MMA fight with Gordon? Was he going to try and use it as leverage for an ADCC superfight and more money in his pocket?
The answer is no. In a 10 minute statement, Galvao took a more pensive route and seemed to reflect a lot on the events. Here, he forgave Gordon Ryan who he accused of saying ‘mean’ things, and also apologized himself. He continued, “Gordon I forgive you. I made a mistake, I recognize my mistakes. Some people tell me to do differently, but I forgive you man.” It is known that Galvao is deeply religious and takes Jesus very seriously in his life. With this in mind, his stance isn’t too unusual when you think about it from that angle.
Whether done out of saving face or for genuine reasons, it was quite a different statement compared to what most expected. He even added that ATOS had a 50% off flash sale during the end of the video, bizarrely using it is as a promotional tool.
So, does this put the Gordon Ryan vs Andre Galvao saga to bed? From Galvao’s side it certainly does, he’s nearly 40 years old and the look is wearing a bit thin for him. However, it also leaves Gordon Ryan in a position to say almost anything about ATOS which he has done for some time. It’s getting a bit tiresome now though so hopefully the talking is done on the mats in the future.
