Demi Lovato is best known for her music and acting career. It’s fair to say that she’s world-famous and is a mega star. However, even though this is the case, like many BJJ-heads she still loves to train the gentle art.
Training under the likes of Danielle Martin and Orlando Sanchez, the Sorry Not Sorry singer was promoted to blue belt in 2019. During a video, she showcased various moves such as takedowns and her love for the Anaconda choke.
In this video, Lovato said “It’s impacted my daily life as it’s a hobby of mine now. It’s something that takes me out of my mind and it’s almost meditative in a way. It’s made me stronger as a person as it’s given me confidence. My ultimate goal is to become a black belt someday but I’ve got to work a lot harder for a long time to get that so that will be in many years.”
Sadly, Lovato has also suffered a drug overdose and admitted that this caused her brain damage. However, if she can apply the lessons taught in BJJ to everyday life, it should make her a stronger, more resilient person.
