Dillon Danis recently featured on the Fragrant 2 podcast which caused quite a stir. In typical Danis style, he wasn’t shy in calling out fighters and even went as far to claim he’d beat Francis Ngannou in a fight. When questioned about the Senegalese giant, he said “In a street fight to the death, where someone’s gonna die, I’ll beat him.”
What was more puzzling was the confidence in which Danis spoke these words. He then went to say that he’d also beat the UFC Heavyweight Champion in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu match as well. Here, he said “In a Jiu-jitsu match up right now, even drunk I’ll mess him up. Come on, he’s terrible on the ground.”
It should be added that Danis hasn’t fought in over two years in MMA, and even longer in BJJ. In fairness, the Bellator fighter had reconstructive surgery on his knee over the past year due to a nasty break. This is obviously a big deal in terms of recovery.
Speaking on the matter of his knee, Danis claimed this was the reason why he hadn’t fought Jake Paul in a boxing match yet. He added that once his knee was fully healed, he would fight the Youtube star. This could be a wise move from Danis, as Paul’s stock is currently high after defeating Ben Askren in the ring. A possible outcome of this could mean more money for Danis in the long run if the bout ever materializes.
So, could Danis seriously handle Francis Ngannou? Let’s be honest, the answer is a resounding ‘no’, but this isn’t the first time he’s used his cocky persona to gain media attention.
