This week saw a BJJ black belt named Charles Anzalone ban police officers from training at his Buffalo gym. This move was highly controversial and was mostly met with negativity, as literally hundreds of comments poured in voicing their disagreement with his policies. Anzalone is a black belt under the legendary Cyborg Abreu. As it happened, Abreu eventually commented on the matter – saying “I don’t agree with that kind of post, attitude or mentality…but everyone has their own life and choices.”
As seen in the above screenshot, Anzalone clearly denied law enforcers from training at his gym. This may be down to his previous run ins with the law. Regardless of your opinions, BJJ is mostly a place that brings people together and is usually the last place for discrimination.
