Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Joe Rogan recently shared a throwback picture to his earlier training days and showed a snap with him and the legendary Jean Jacques Machado. Here, Rogan was wearing a baggy Adidas gi with a head guard. He captioned the photo “Throwback to the late 90’s when I started training with the great and powerful Jean Jacques Machado!”
Interestingly, the picture also showed Machado having six degrees on his black belt…in the 90s which shows just how long he’s been in the game. It is no secret that Eddie Bravo and Joe Rogan trained under Machado during the earlier days of their BJJ training.
Machado responded to the picture by saying “One of my best students, Joe Rogan.” Since beginning BJJ, Rogan achieved his black belt from Eddie Bravo in his 10th Planet HQ gym. As a result of training under Bravo, he mostly trained in no gi and ditched the jacket for the most part.
