Last night was a fantastic time for the career of ‘Korean Zombie’, who is also known as Chan Sung Jung. Not only did he headline a UFC event, but he beat Dan Ige to move his MMA record to 17-6. This was through a unanimous decision, sorry submission fans there was no Twister involved in the win!
However, things got better after his win, as his coaches promoted him in the octagon just moments after victory. Whilst the South Korean flag was draped across his shoulders, his coach also added the black belt which made things extra special. To add to the occasion, it turned out after that Sung Jung had also popped his shoulder during the bout, which would have made the win even more difficult to achieve.
Speaking after the fight, Korean Zombie said “More than winning this fight, the black belt means so much to me. I’m super excited to get it.” During his MMA career, an impressive 8 victories have been scored by submission, so it’s definitely deserved.
