Talking to the Brazilian news site Tatame, Felipe Pena recently spoke about his future desires to go into the world of MMA. This would follow a number of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champions that have made the leap from BJJ to MMA. The likes of Fabricio Werdum and Jacare Souza have previously transitioned successfully, whilst more recently Marcus Buchecha has signed a contract with ONE FC.
Speaking on the prospective move, Pena stated “I really want to test myself in MMA. I’ve been wanting to for some time now and it’s something that won’t go away. I’ll definitely migrate someday, or at least try, right? But I still don’t know when that will happen. I’m training MMA from time to time, fixing things, so when it happens, I’ll be in the best shape. However, I still don’t have a forecast for that to happen.”
With this said, the UFC doesn’t quite beckon for the ADCC champion just yet. Nonetheless, don’t rule it out in the future!
