In April 2019, Leon Edwards was promoted to the rank of purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This belt was awarded to him by Chiu Kwong Man. This promotion took place in the Team Renegade gym in Birmingham, England where Edwards trains.
Upon receiving the belt, Edwards said “I’ve competed against and beat black belts in my mixed martial arts career so I’m grateful to receive my BJJ PURPLE belt today.” Edwards was wearing the gi whilst he received his new belt, but is best known for training MMA and nogi.
