If you’ve seen the news recently, then you’ll know that BJJ bad boy Dillon Danis got in trouble at the weekend at a bar in Jersey Shore. Apparently, he was denied access as he didn’t have ID, so he began to get annoyed with the security. This eventually ended in a heated exchange, with Danis on the floor with the bouncer applying a rear naked choke on Danis with his hooks in.
During this video, you can clearly see that Danis taps on the arm of the security – which is ignored. It doesn’t look like Danis is choked out in fairness, but nonetheless, it’s quite embarrassing for the former star.
Since leaving professional BJJ a few years ago, Danis has had two MMA fights in Bellator where he won both by submission. After suffering a knee injury he has since remained outside of combat sports and has re-emerged as a kind of internet celebrity. Regardless, this story is bad news for Danis as it certainly doesn’t do anything for his reputation as a BJJ wizard.
In fairness to Danis, you don’t know if he was taken down by multiple opponents before getting his back taken, or if he was jumped from behind. Whatever the situation, it has resulted in various BJJ practitioners mocking Danis, with Tom DeBlass saying “Hahaha oh Dillon, next time you’re around my way let me know.”
After the incident, Danis was taken into custody by the police where his puffy-faced mugshot went viral.
