Hypnotik gets a new name
Hypnotik previously had their own website, but have since relocated to a site named USFightstore. This site also seems to stock Adidas boxing gear but its BJJ stuff is purely Hypnotik. A quick search shows that literally all of their BJJ gear is Hypnotik and this ranges from gis to rashguards and spats.
According to this Reddit thread, Hypnotik had previously closed out of nowhere but have since reopened under new ownership. This would actually explain their shift towards a new website. Sadly, it seems that their pure hemp gi has not been continued as well as various other popular designs.
Hypnotik BJJ gi review
As seen on the new site, Hypnotik gis are not exactly cheap, albeit they’re not the most expensive gis in BJJ either. So, how good are they? The consensus with Hypnotik is that they’re a high quality gi brand and their rashguards are solid too. Obviously, the hypnotizing logo may appeal to some, but the quality is where the Hypnotik brand shines through.
For instance, their Vortex gi is made from 100% pearl weave cotton and has various stitch points that reinforce its strength. In short, if you’re after a durable gi that is reliable and won’t break under pressure, then Hypnotik is a great grappling brand to look at.
What happened with Hypnotik and Gordon Ryan?
For a short while, Gordon Ryan was signed with Hypnotik who sponsored him. In other words, they paid him to wear their brand whilst competing and training. As you can imagine, this would not have been cheap considering he’s considered the greatest ever when it comes to no gi BJJ.
In short, this deal expired at some point and it may have coincided with Hypnotik closing a little while after. After the deal ended, Ryan claimed on Instagram that they used his image without his consent though.
These days, it seems Gordon Ryan wears Future Kimonos rashguards as well as ONE MMA clothes which makes sense considering his ties with the Singaporean company. For the moment though, it seems though he won’t be wearing Hypnotik for the foreseeable future.
Will Hypnotik BJJ clothes make a comeback?
For the time being, Hypnotik are keeping a relatively low profile and their social media is inactive for the most part. Nonetheless, if you really like their stuff then you can buy through their new website.
Whether they make another huge marketing campaign remains to be seen and they may not be rivaling the likes of Tatami or Fuji anytime soon. Having said this, it’s nice to see that there are still options if you’re a big fan of Hypnotik.
