A known competitor, Gordon Ryan usually competes throughout the year. That was, until 2021 happened. Due to a bad gut and intense nausea, the ADCC Champion barely stepped on the mats apart from a handful of superfights here and there. Although Ryan continued to dominate, he still struggled with consistently competing.
According to Ryan, he would have made an extra $180,000 had he remained fit throughout the year. This would have been in competition pay with events such as WNO paying for his appearances. Apparently, this was a fee based on turning up, regardless of winning or not.
You may think this is a lot of money, but it seems that Ryan takes home this much on a monthly basis through DVD sales. Regardless, he looks set to return for the 2022 ADCC which is set to be a cracker.
