ONE FC featherweight champion Than Le was today promoted to black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by his teacher Ryan Hall. This took place in Hall’s 50/50 BJJ where Le donned the gi whilst receiving his newly awarded belt. Speaking on the belt promotion, Hall said “Fifty/50 black belt number 10. Had the honor of moving Than Le to a well-deserved final rank in Jiu-Jitsu tonight, surrounded by family and friends in a gym he has helped put on the map.”
Than Le currently holds an impressive 13-2 MMA record and is primarily known for his striking ability. However, in his recent fight against Garry Tonon, he proved worthy of his BJJ black belt. Here, Tonon tried to heel hook Le who defended the leg entanglement expertly, only to then go on and knock out Tonon moments later.
