It’s been a wild few weeks for the British UFC fighter Leon Edwards. This started off with a headkick KO victory over Kamaru Usman to win the UFC Welterweight title. Days later, he was then awarded a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Tom Bracher at Gracie Barra Sutton Coldfield. In his fight against Kamaru Usman, Edwards showed some fantastic BJJ skills at times.
For instance, he was the first man to ever take down Usman in the UFC. From there, he took his back and almost swept Usman too. Without these skills, there’s a strong possibility that he wouldn’t have been victorious.
To date, Edwards has a total of three submission victories during his professional MMA career. These include two rear naked chokes and one arm triangle. Unsurprisingly, Edwards looked very happy with his new black belt.
