Lead singer of the British band The 1975, Matty Healy was recently seen training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the Roger Gracie Academy in London. This is another example of a celebrity turning to BJJ and in this sense, Healy is certainly not alone.
It seems as though he made a good choice of where to train as well, as Roger Gracie’s home is arguably one of the best BJJ gyms in Europe. Here, Healy trained under the black belt Alex Smith and was kitted out in the RGA gear. It makes sense that Healy would choose this gym to train at as well. It’s not just because of its reputation, as Healy also lives in London too so is local to its premises.
Let’s just hope Healy wasn’t choked too hard as well! The reason for this is that Healy literally relies on his voice to earn a living! Based on the picture though, it looks like Healy had a good time. Here’s to seeing BJJs next celebrity blue belt.
